Emsmarcretha

Born in South Africa in 1999, Emsmarcretha now lives and works in Apeldoorn. Over the past few years, painting has become an essential part of her life and her most powerful form of therapy.

Her work combines acrylic paint, gemstones and texture paste. Through colour, texture and movement, she translates emotions, atmospheres and stories onto canvas. She creates art that lingers, sparks curiosity and, above all, becomes a true statement piece. Because nobody wants a boring interior.

Outside the studio, Emsmarcretha is always looking for new impressions. She is a passionate weightlifter, enjoys fashion, art and culture, and loves travelling to discover new places and perspectives. You might find her exploring a museum, flipping through fashion magazines or cooking for family and friends. She is also a devoted reggae fan and would happily trade Apeldoorn for Jamaica. Her very first painting was made in secondary school and is still hanging there today.

When Elevator Antwerp invited her to take part in the exhibition at Beerschot’s stadium, she immediately opened a bottle of champagne. Showing her work in Antwerp felt both special and completely natural. The city brings her joy, just as her paintings do. Through this exhibition, she hopes to pass that feeling on to everyone who encounters her work.
