About the work

Tomas Beeckman

Beeckman drew the three stones for this print inside Hangar 26 during the shed’s working hours, which run from six in the evening until one in the morning. The image is the view down the loading bay: sodium light, a wet floor, a stack of pallets that was moved twice while he worked and never came back to the same place.

The colours are printed in the order the light arrives — a flat grey ground, then the warm cast of the overhead lamps, then a near-black that is not quite black and lets the paper hold the shadows. Registration is deliberately loose by a millimetre or two, so the edges hum the way they do at that hour.

The edition was pulled in the studio in Antwerp Zuid over three weeks in May 2026 and the stones were effaced afterwards. It is the only print in the exhibition available as an edition.
